Growing food as a business has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl. I have always enjoyed going to the fresh food market with my grandma, and she was the one that showed me how to test the vegetables and fruit for sale to see if they are ripe. It is really more of an art than a science to tell if food is ready to be eaten, but once you get the idea of how to do it, your meals taste so much better. I began thinking about building a commercial aquaponics business when I was 15 years old, and having a small scale system at home that is successful has given me the confidence to go for bigger and better goals. Maybe if things work out right, I will even have a small shop one day, where I can sell my fresh food and any supplies that someone might need to build their own system.
